Why Your Child Should Visit an Orthodontist

February 4, 2015 by admin 3 Comments

Each February, the American Dental Association sponsors National Children’s Dental Month to promote the benefits of great oral health. While most people understand the importance of a healthy smile, few people know just how big of a role orthodontic care plays children’s overall oral health.

Children's Orthodontics

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children have a check-up with a licensed orthodontist around the age of seven. Many initial crowding, crossbite, and jaw discrepancies begin to surface at that time. Early treatment could allow your orthodontist to guide jaw growth, help lower the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth, detect and correct harmful oral habits, improve your child’s bite, and improve the appearance of your child’s smile. Many times, early treatment may prevent more serious issues from developing, make treatment later on shorter and less complicated, or help your child avoid further treatment altogether.

Whether or not the initial assessment reveals any issues, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you are doing everything you can to help your child develop a healthy, beautiful smile.

Aiken-Augusta Progressive Study Club

May 3, 2012 by admin Leave a Comment

On Tuesday, March 20, Dr. David and Carter Orthodontics hosted the first Aiken-Augusta Progressive Study Club. Dr. David has long felt a need for all general dentists AND specialists be up to date on the most current dental treatments and techniques, and what better way than to do it TOGETHER. Each month, Dr. David and Carter Orthodontics will present national and international speakers via teleconference (through DentalEd) for all invited dentists in the CSRA. The first DentalEd meeting presented the latest concepts on anterior (front) tooth crowns and porcelain veneers, important to both family dentists and orthodontists alike. The meeting lasted three hours and all attendees found the ‘group’ learning session to be not only unique, but also kept all well informed and on the same ‘page’ as to what are the best techniques and dental materials available.

Carter Orthodontics remains on the forefront looking for exceptional ways to stay educated as well as providing the BEST treatment available!!!

Tooth Replacements – Dental Implants

Dental Implants – Video

Here is a great video showing how dental implants are done. Dental implants have come a long way over the years and can be used to replace missing front and back teeth. Think of them as ‘artificial roots’ that will then have crowns (caps) placed on top of them. It’s the next best thing to have real teeth again!

Hello CSRA!

January 27, 2009 by admin Leave a Comment

Well, it’s time to post the CSRA’s first dental blog. I get asked about so many different dental procedures that I thought it would be a great idea to have a “central location” to find answers to many dental questions. I will post articles that I think will be of interest to residents of the CSRA. I will also be asking many of my dental colleagues to post articles they think would be of interest, such as cosmetic dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics (gums), endodontics (root canals), dental implants, and… oh yeah… ORTHODONTICS! These articles will be what I think is the latest in techniques and technology. Feel free to post comments or questions and I’ll be happy to reply. I hope this will be a useful and interesting site!
